Gary Leva has over 35 years of Tribal health care experience in the areas of leadership, governance, strategic planning, Board training, business planning/feasibility studies, grant writing, accreditation facilitation, program evaluation, human resource management, executive and provider search and Tribal healthcare facility planning, design and operations.
Accomplished CEO
Leva was the CEO of Marimn Health (formerly known as Benewah Medical & Wellness Center), for the Coeur d’Alene Tribe, a highly successful tribally operated health center that is open to the public under the auspices of Title V Self-Governance. He was on the ground floor of developing strategic direction for a new model of tribal health care in a culturally diverse, progressive, collaborative teamwork environment embraced around a strong patient centered medical home model.
Previous Work + Education
Previously, Leva worked as a Social Worker and later the Director of Behavioral Health at Indian Health Service in Plummer, ID; a Medical Social Worker, at John’s Hopkins Hospital, in Baltimore, MD; and was a School Social Worker, in Baltimore City Public Schools, Baltimore, MD. He has a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the University of Texas, Austin, earned his Master’s in Social Work at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and has a Master’s in Business Administration from City University, Seattle, WA.
